WEEKS 2 and 3
The rain over the previous couple of days has brought a welcome lift to the River Coquet after a fortnight of receding water levels.
Sunday saw the river at a good height although heavily coloured but Monday onwards should see improved conditions along with a week of big tides which will hopefully encourage a few fish into the system.
It's pleasurable to see a good turn out of anglers most days even though conditions haven't been favourable and the angling effort can't be faulted but the prized first fish remains at large. This week however could be the week and if you're fly is in the water you're in with a chance.
We also await news of the first Salmon to be caught on our Tyne waters (pictured). Could it be this week too?
It's not to late to get your permit to be in the chance of winning one of our early season competitions (first fresh salmon caught on the Coquet and first fly caught Salmon on any of the Federation waters).
Good luck to everyone on the water and tight lines.
