SAFETY, PRIVACY POLICY and SAFEGUARDING
All anglers fish the Federation waters at their own risk. A life jacket or flotation aid can save your life if you fall into the water and are recommended to be worn at all times.
All anglers should take care whilst fishing, particularly when wading. Be careful when back casting if there are other persons behind you, particularly non-anglers.
Be extra careful if there are overhead wires or cables nearby, especially when using carbon fibre rods. Carbon fibre is a high conductor of electricity and contact with electric power lines can kill or cause severe burns.
Anglers should be aware of the risks of certain diseases in their environment. Weil’s Disease is a form of a bacterial infection carried most commonly by rodents or cattle and can be transmitted through contact with their urine in contaminated fresh water. Ensure to wash your hands thoroughly and do not put wet line or equipment in your mouth.
Lyme Disease is a tick-borne disease. These ticks can be present in vegetation alongside or near the river. Anglers should wear appropriate clothing to avoid exposed skin when fishing and to check for any ticks on their person.
All anglers should be aware of the Federation’s Health and Safety, Privacy and Safeguarding polices which can be found on the website.
