The week has passed by with just about every conceivable weather condition befalling us and although a few hardy souls braved the, at times, bitter conditions no salmon catches were reported on the Federation's waters. A fish was hooked but unfortunately lost at Merryshields on the River Tyne.
A couple of visiting trout anglers certainly weren't deterred by the conditions and made the most of their visit with catches on the Felton and Pauperhaugh stretches of the River Coquet. A special mention goes to Anton who'd planned to end his trip by fishing our Shillmoor waters but had to turn back because of the snowbound roads and instead fished the Felton beat where he was rewarded with two fine brownies and another two lost.
The coming week has rain forecast from Tuesday onwards and hopefully this will bring sustained levels, encourage more fish into the rivers and improve sport.
Tight lines to all anglers on the water over the next week.
