Continued Good Sport
The rain this last week helped maintain decent levels and colour to the water on the River Coquet and with it, continued good angling conditions.
Numerous catches were reported from several Federation beats and amongst those were Gordon Black with 5 sea trout and a salmon, David Lee with 5 sea trout, Joe Clarke and Greg Dodd with a couple of sea trout each, John Percival and George Nicholson both with a salmon and sea trout each.
On Saturday Dale Green managed 2 salmon up to 8 lbs and 2 very clean sea trout from the Rothbury beat bringing his total so far, for October alone, to 10 salmon and 7 sea trout. Well done Dale.
Prior to that, on Thursday, Thomas Phillips who only took up salmon fishing in July managed his first fish on the fly. A great achievement on it's own but with the fish weighing in at a hefty 19 lbs 5 oz. and verified, it's certainly a moment that Thomas won't be forgetting. Sincere congratulations go to Thomas.
No doubt there have also been several more unreported catches to add to those mentioned and whilst congratulations go to all those anglers who have caught we hope all Federation anglers have enjoyed their time on our waters.
We wish you all tight lines for the remainder of the season.
