The rain through the week gave a welcome lift to the rivers with the Coquet benefiting especially. Once the water cleared a number of fish were reported caught, among them were salmon caught by George Nicholson (7 lbs) at High Park, Chris Watson (8 lbs 8 oz) at Rothbury, John Percival (5 lbs) at Black Bridge and John Mills with his first ever salmon (7 lbs 5 oz) also at Black Bridge. Congratulations and very well done John.
The river is currently in fine fettle with fish being caught throughout the system. A decent head of sea trout are also now reportedly in the river and some decent brown trout have also been caught. At Rothbury, George Nicholson had a fine specimen estimated at 2 lbs 8 oz and Ryan Thompson had a superb wild Coquet brownie of 1 lbs 8 oz. On our Till beat angler Peter Weston had a few nice brownies and a fine Grayling of around 12 oz.
This next week sees the Federation hosting our Snowbee events as advertised and the second of our very successful 'Try Angling' events at Rothbury. Hopefully we shall see some of you there.
Tight lines to all our Federation anglers.
