Week 1 to Week 2
With the River Coquet's conditions remaining good until Fridays heavy rain, prospects of the first fresh salmon being caught by one of the many anglers on the water remained fairly high but unfortunately any signs of the first springer didn't materialise. Several pristine salmon and sea trout kelts, a precious commodity among our fish stocks were caught however and very carefully returned to the water to allow them to continue on their epic journey, hopefully navigating their way past all the obstacles and predators they encounter.
Once again it has been so pleasing to see the many faces both old and new along with the many anglers returning to the Federation waters as well as the visiting anglers who repeatedly travel to fish the beautiful River Coquet. All are made welcome and anyone thinking of purchasing a permit, a friendly and helpful atmosphere awaits. We sincerely hope you all have a great season ahead of you.
After the weekend's rain the river should be fining down nicely on Monday and along with the big tides hopefully it will draw a few fresh fish into the system. For one fortunate angler this week could very well produce that prestigious fish.Tight lines to all those out on our waters this week.
