With great pleasure we can announce that the first salmon has been caught on N.A.F. waters today on the River Coquet at High Park.
The warmest of congratulations go to angler John Madgin who netted the fish out at 17.05 at Douglas'.
John caught the prized salmon on a size 10 orange and red shrimp fly that he'd tied himself.
The fish, in superb condition was verified and weighed in at 10 lbs 5 oz. and returned to the water safely to make it's onward journey.
An obviously delighted John will now receive the esteemed Coquet Trophy and with the fish being caught on the fly he will also receive the Federation Shield that comes with a presentation set of flies generously provided by Federation anglers.
Sincere congratulations from everyone involved with the Federation go to John.
Well done.
