The 2024 Salmon Season Opening Day

The salmon season made a welcome return to our waters today with river conditions on the Coquet nearly ideal on the lower stretches. With approximately 17 anglers braving the chilly conditions throughout the day prospects were good but unfortunately there were no signs of the first spring fish, however last man standing - Gordon Black,  did manage to get the heart racing with a beautifully well mended sea trout kelt of around 4 lb. With conditions predicted to remain steady over the next few days one of our anglers could well be fortunate enough to land that prized salmon.
