THE 2023 SEASON ENDS

November 2, 2023

The Season Ends.

With the rivers in spate most of the week due to days of heavy rain it was pleasing to see a good number of anglers braving the conditions on the River Coquet on the final day of the salmon season. With the majority of the final week being a wash out, the couple of days where fishing could occur in between the heavy floods, the Coquet once again produced a number of salmon and sea trout. Among those reported were two salmon of 18 lbs and a beautiful, clean hen fish of 15 lbs caught by Paul Robson. Visiting anglers, Jan Pozorski and his son Dominic enjoyed their trip with salmon of 12 lbs and 14 lbs respectively and fellow visitors Peter Thomas and Matt Bradbeer also managed fish. Dale Green landed a fine salmon of 12 lbs and Billy Toland had a salmon of 10 lbs. Unfortunately the final day failed to produce any fish with the upper beats being 'fishable' but still running high.

The more than welcome water we had in the summer months this year produced excellent returns on the River Coquet with some anglers having their personal best seasons along with a number of anglers new to Federation waters also producing good returns but, whether or not you have been among those who have impressive tallies we sincerely hope you have all taken pleasure from and enjoyed your time on our waters, as is our main aim.

A reminder, if you'd like to extend your season, that salmon and sea trout fishing is still available (pre-booking via the Head Bailiff required) until the end of November on the River Till.

We thank you all and hope to see you again next season.
