SEASON FINALE

With the season reaching a conclusion we hope all our anglers have enjoyed their time on our waters in one way or another despite the extremely challenging conditions. After one of the driest years culminating in some of the lowest flow rates recorded it's been an understandably frustrating year. When the rains eventually came, sport did improve, albeit a little late in the season.

Our Tyne waters produced a number of fish by mid-October, several in the 9 to 15 lb range, with congratulations going to Jacek Bernard for managing a personal best salmon weighing in at 24 lb 10 oz.

On the Coquet, once the water had quickly settled after the welcome lift Storm 'Boelo' provided, catches improved dramatically with a couple of dozen salmon, to around 14 lb, and 17 sea trout, to around 7 lb reported to add to the handful caught earlier in the month, among them a 17 lb salmon caught by Dale Green.

A belated presentation of The Federation Shield for the first fly caught salmon of the season was held at Pauperhaugh during the last week of the season with the Chairman presenting Peter Robinson with the trophy for his catch back in June. Congratulations go to Peter on yet another achievement.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the many anglers who report their catches to me on a regular basis throughout the season. Your reports enable the updates which bid to keep all of our anglers informed and hopefully be of benefit to them.

Should you wish to extend your season our River Till waters remain open for salmon permit holders until the end of November. Pre-booking is required and catch returns must be reported at the end of your day. These are separate to your season catch returns which are required by 15th November as stated in the previous notice. Late returns result in extra administration so please endeavour to get them in by the due date.

All the best and we hope to see you all again next season.
