HEAD BAILIFFS REPORT - OCTOBER 2025

Head Bailiff Report.

Now that the winds have eased from Storm ' Amy', the rain it brought has provided a timely lift to our waters for the next few days at the least and will hopefully improve sport. The lifts we got to our waters since the last report, whilst short lived, produced decent reported catches over a couple of short periods with 25 salmon to 12 lb and 35 sea trout, one of which, caught by Joe Clarke weighed in at 10 lb 2 oz. Of the many catches, notable mentions go to young Ryan Mooney for his 6 lb grilse and to Marje Holland, who's dedicated effort resulted in her first migratory fish, a 4 lb sea trout from High Park. Sincere congratulations go to Marje for her well deserved catch.

With the conditions continuing to suit our Tyne waters, several catches have once again been reported, with salmon to around the 12 lb mark. Chris Sneddon, who only took up salmon fishing a few weeks ago landed his second of the season, a 5 lb grilse from the Wires. Well done Chris.

Now that the trout season is over we hope that our dedicated trout anglers have enjoyed their season. Several good catches have been reported despite the trying conditions and we hope to see you all again next season. Rule changes are pending regarding trout fishing / permits so please check the website prior to next season.

For salmon permit holders heading to our waters over the closing weeks of the season, please take note of the specific rules agreed at the time of your permit purchase, especially regarding the 'Special Restrictions', as well as it being fly fishing only and total catch and release of all fish. Should anyone have any concerns or witness anything untoward please do not hesitate to contact me directly so that any issues can be dealt with promptly.
