GREAT FINAL WEEK

Great Final Week

With the Salmon and Sea Trout season coming to an end on the Coquet and the Tyne on Monday several anglers made the most of the decent conditions that prevailed throughout the final week.

Our Tyne waters produced a few fish whilst on the Coquet numerous catches were reported throughout the system with the High Park, Felton, Pauperhaugh and Rothbury beats all producing great returns. Congratulations go to all those anglers who have caught over the last week with several that deserve a special mention.

On Tuesday, 13 year old Aaron Kinghorn landed his first ever salmon whilst fishing with his Grandad, Dennis. A special achievement and a proud moment for them both. Congratulations go to Aaron who was probably the youngest angler on the water whilst just downstream of him was Tommy Middlemass who at 88 was probably the oldest. Our best wishes go to Tommy who's passion has never diminished and for all the fine work he has done over the years.

On Friday, visiting angler Matt Bradbeer managed a superb sea trout verified at 8 lbs 8 oz and on Saturday, Peter Robinson landed a fantastic salmon verified at 19 lbs 7 oz, both fish complimenting their numerous other catches. Dale Green also continued his fine form with two more salmon and two clean sea trout to add to his impressive tally.

With what was one of the warmest and driest summers on record the last few weeks have hopefully given you all plenty of enjoyment on our waters and it's evident that when conditions are right they take some beating. With the river's in good health and fish numbers up we hope to see you all again next season. For the time being we wish you all well throughout the close season.

A reminder that salmon and sea trout fishing is still open on our Till water until the end of November and beyond that grayling fishing is available by pre-booking with the Head Bailiff only and on the Tyne all salmon permit holders have coarse fishing available to them.

Finally, we'd like to say thank you to the several anglers from whom we've received nice compliments recently. It is much appreciated and we will continue to make every effort we can to make your fishing an enjoyable experience.
