THE FIRST FEDERATION SALMON OF 2026

With great pleasure we can announce that the season's first fresh salmon from N.A.F. waters has been caught today on the High Park Beat of the River Coquet.

The warmest of congratulations go to angler Colin Mitchell who landed the fish at 17.30 from the top of the Haystacks Pool.

The fish, caught on a copper Mepps and in superb condition was verified and weighed in at 7 lb 10 oz. and returned to the water safely to make it's onward journey.

An obviously delighted Colin, who has just resumed salmon fishing this season after fishing the Federation's waters for many years previously, will now receive the esteemed River Coquet Trophy for the first time.

Sincere congratulations from everyone involved with the Federation go to Colin.
