Coquet Trophy Winner and Week 6

March 12, 2022

The week began with the Coquet heavily coloured due to the lift in the levels the day prior. This soon cleared to give favourable angling conditions throughout the early part of the week resulting in a good number of anglers fishing the lower to mid beats. The river then maintained a decent height and good colour through the rest of the week with the angling effort being faultless.

The effort was finally rewarded at 5.30 p.m. on Friday 11-03-22 when the first fresh salmon, weighing in at 6 lbs 13 oz was caught by Gordon Black at the top of the Gravels pool, Black Bridge, Warkworth on an Aglia Long Mepp. Sincere congratulations go to Gordon who has now caught the first fish five times and will yet again be awarded the Coquet Trophy, a reward totally deserved for the time and effort he put's in.

Now that the Federation's first salmon has been caught it's worth noting that the prize for the first fly caught salmon is still up for grabs and is open to all anglers fishing any of the Federation's waters as per the rules and regulations. To all on the river this next week, wishing you tight lines.
