Bank Holiday Bonanza
After the overnight heavy rain on the Friday prior to the bank holiday the River Coquet was fining down nicely on the Saturday for the weekend and the days following and for the many anglers who took to our waters, a great number weren't disappointed, with reported catches totalling 23 salmon and grilse, 22 sea trout and an astounding brown trout.

Evidence of a good grilse run, by today's standards, has been seen this year with a good number caught during this period in the 4 to 7 lb range and a healthy return of sea trout has now materialised. Among their catches, salmon to 12 lb were caught by Paul Robson, Peter Robinson, David Lee, Tommy Cleghorn and George Nicholson who landed eight fish including a cracking sea trout of 9 lb 6 oz.

Dale Green once again added to his amazing tally with another ten fish whilst others among the reported catches were Paul Gilliard, Trevor Harding, Gordon Black, Dylan Edminson and Barry McGeeney.

Sincere congratulations go to keen young angler Ryan Wilson who had 2 superb grilse in the 5 to 6 lb range and his first ever sea trout weighing in at 6 lb 8 oz. Well done Ryan. Also, a special mention must go to Paul Robson who landed the astounding brown trout last Saturday, the fish weighing in at 7 lb 8 oz. and the heaviest verified on our waters.

Congratulations go to all those previously mentioned and apologies to anyone missed but whether you've caught or not we sincerely hope all those on our waters have enjoyed themselves and with more rain on the way we hope to see continued good sport.

Tight lines to you all.
