Autumn Update.
With the trout season concluding yesterday we hope that our dedicated trout anglers have enjoyed their season despite the extremely challenging conditions this year has provided. Nevertheless, some decent catches have been reported and we hope to see you all again next season.
Likewise, our salmon permit holders have had to deal with the prolonged low water levels for much of the season, however; since the last report in August we have had just over 40 salmon and grilse reported, the majority of which have been in the 4 to 9 lb range with a few in the 10 to 13 lb range, along with a handful of sea trout to just over 7 lb from the Coquet. Anglers - Paul Gilliard, David Lee, Dale Green and Colin Mitchell have all managed several fish each over this period.
Our River Tyne waters have produced a few fish recently with John Madgin and Dion Coates each landing salmon from our Bywell stretch. Congratulations go to Dion for catching his first ever salmon, a fish of around 9 lb.
As a gentle reminder, as laid out in the handbook, from today all our waters are fly fishing only and mandatory catch and release. No excuses will be accepted for not adhering to these rules.
We wish you all the best for the remainder of the season and tight lines to you all.
