Autumn Angling Arrives
As a fairly decent brown trout season ended and we enter the last few weeks of the salmon and sea trout season the timely lift in the water over the last couple of days should hopefully provide the continued good sport of the previous few weeks with our waters again producing good returns of 42 salmon/grilse and 13 sea trout reported, helped by the small lift in levels at the beginning of October.
Among the catches during this period are some familiar names as Dale Green continued his fine form with another 13 fish to 13 lb, George Nicholson had a salmon of 17 lb 2 oz and a 9 lb sea trout among his catches whilst Paul Gilliard had a superb sea trout of around 12 lb. Other anglers with numerous catches were Tony Dunn, Willie Hunter, John Jervis, Gordon Black, Peter Robinson and David Lee whilst both Barry McGeeney and David Proctor both managed double salmon catches in a session for the first time.
Meanwhile, visiting anglers to the Coquet have made their journeys worthwhile with David Backler managing two salmon to 13 lb and Tom Kent landed a fine 12 lb salmon. Congratulations go to both Charlie Kent and Richard Holland who each landed their first ever salmon of 12 lb 8 oz and 6 lb respectively.
On our Tyne waters, among the fish were Peter Robinson, Jacek Bernard and Mark Reed who landed a beautiful fresh salmon of 13 lb at the Wires.
Tight lines to you all for the remainder of the season.
