On the 18th and 19th July there is an amber warning of extreme heat by the Met Office for all the Federation waters. Please see following a statement issued by the River Tweed Commission - we ask that Federation Permit holders follow this recommendation on all our waters:
"With air temperatures predicted to reach 26 degrees celsius on Monday and 29 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, water temperatures on some rivers will exceed 20 degrees Celsius, putting adult Salmon, Sea trout and Brown trout under stress due to reduced oxygen levels. While fish are less likely to be caught in these conditions, the mortality rate for fish that are caught under rod and line will be much higher than for cooler water temperatures.
Therefore, the River Tweed Commission recommends that anglers consider restricting fishing activities to early mornings, late evenings or to not fish for any Salmon, Sea trout or Brown trout in the on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July."
Thanks
