Amazing August
Over the recent weeks we've been fortunate enough to see some nice lifts in the water due to a seldom seen but very welcome (to anglers) rainy August which have certainly kept the fish moving, resulting in some great sport at opportune times.From the returns reported there have been over 20 salmon/grilse and almost 40 sea trout as well as some notable brown trout caught. Amongst the fish during this period were Dale Green once again with 9 salmon, 4 up to 16 lbs in one morning and several sea trout, John Potts with a salmon of 11 lbs 8 oz., John Jervis with a salmon of 12 lbs and some fine sea trout, Paul Gilliard with a 10 lbs sea trout among his catches and a beautiful 8 lbs sea trout caught by an elated Erik Petterson on the same day he received his outstanding G.C.S.E. results. Sincere congratulations go to Erik. Other happy angler's among the migratory fish were Gordon Black, George Nicholson, Willie Hunter, James Mullen, Peter Robinson, Paul Robson, Joe Clarke, Greg Ritchie, Sharon Farnie, Tony Dunn, Mick Robinson, Trevor Dodds, Chris and Scott Hall on their first visit to the Coquet, Steve Bowman with his first sea trout, John Robertson, Sandy Robertson and Chris Richardson.
Both Sandy and Chris also managed superb brown trout of 3 lbs 8 oz. and 4 lbs 14 oz. respectively.
Well done to all anglers on their catches (apologies if we've missed anyone) and we sincerely hope you are all enjoying the sport on offer which should continue given there is a good head of fish working their way up river.
A special mention must go to Wull Turnbull and Tony Flynn, who after what they've endured, are true inspirations and are proof of the benefits of angling and time on the river bank. Keep at it and enjoy it.
Also worth a mention is the number of visiting anglers who have enjoyed their time on our waters and have been made very welcome, with some great advice offered. It's all appreciated as it's all about everyone enjoying their time on the water.
