2025 Season - Opening Week
This season's opening day saw a good turn out of anglers once again with both our River Tyne waters and the River Coquet's lower beats being fished from first light to dusk despite the low water conditions not being ideal and yet again it was pleasing to welcome both old and new faces to our waters. Any signs of a fresh fish were not forthcoming; however, young Ryan Mooney got both his and his Grandad's pulses racing last Sunday when his line was the first to be tightened with the result being a very well mended salmon kelt landed and safely returned. Water levels have since dropped even further throughout the week due to the lack of rain which in turn has seen a reduction in angling effort. With spells of rain forecast over the next couple of weeks hopefully we will see an improvement in the conditions and with it your chances of catching that prestigious first salmon of the season.Best wishes and tight lines to you all for the season ahead.
