2024 Season Finale

November 4, 2024

Season Finale

The season came to an end with a flourish last Thursday, with very unseasonal weather providing some pleasant final few days on the riverbank for our anglers and despite the balmy conditions, catches remained very good with over 40 fish reported from our River Coquet beats.

Graham Southam once again managed four fish to 15 lb in a session whilst both Alan Chapman and Paul Gallagher had salmon in the high teens. Mick Robinson and Tony Dunn each had very well conditioned salmon of around 12 lb to round off their fine season's, Chris Dunn and Mariusz Baruch both had salmon and sea trout with several other anglers including David Laurie, Leigh Final, George Nicholson, Peter Thomas and Barry McGeeney adding to their catches whilst congratulations go to Daniel Knight who landed his first salmon, a fish around the 10 lb mark. Regular visitor Matt Bradbeer once again enjoyed his trip to our waters with fourteen fish in his two weeks and to round it all up, Dale Green added another eight fish up to 16 lb to his tally in the last four days bringing his total to a phenomenal 58, all of which were safely returned to allow them to continue on their amazing journey and on that note we'd like to commend our anglers on their exceptional catch and release rate. Along with a very good fish count this year, especially salmon and grilse, it bodes well for the future of the river and maintaining our sport.

With enjoyment of fishing our waters being the ethos, we sincerely hope all our anglers have had a great season in one way or another and for anyone wishing to extend their season our River Till waters remain open for salmon and sea trout fishing until the end of November and for grayling fishing thereafter with days available on a strictly pre-booked basis by contacting the Head Bailiff.

Now is also the time to remind you that your season catch returns are due (no later than: 15-11-24). These can be done conveniently via the link on our website or, if you prefer by post, by sending the details to the Head Bailiff / Secretary. Catch returns are included in the terms of your permit issue and timely responses assist us greatly in providing a more true reflection of the fishing on our waters whilst late returns only cause more administration time and costs. We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

All the best and we hope to see you all again next season.
